Description

FP Markets Review 2026: The Ultimate Global ECN Broker Tested

FP Markets (First Prudential Markets) is an Australian-born brokerage that has quietly but aggressively captured the hearts of advanced traders worldwide. Operating continuously since 2005, the firm has built a formidable reputation based on its true ECN (Electronic Communication Network) and DMA (Direct Market Access) models. This translates into lightning-fast execution and raw, interbank spreads—making it a direct and fierce competitor to other top-tier Australian brokers like IC Markets.

But how does FP Markets hold up in 2026 from the perspective of a global retail trader? Do the trading conditions match the high Trustpilot ratings? We have thoroughly audited their commission structures, hidden fees, MT4/MT5 capabilities, and the massive 10,000+ instrument offering on the IRESS platform. Welcome to the most comprehensive analysis of FP Markets available online!

1. What is FP Markets? Global Regulation & Trust

The foundation of trust in Forex trading lies in robust legal regulation. Founded in Sydney, FP Markets operates under a highly secure legal structure spanning multiple global jurisdictions.

Licenses and Capital Security:

  • ASIC (Australia): This is FP Markets’ “crown jewel” (First Prudential Markets Pty Ltd). The Australian Securities and Investments Commission is considered one of the strictest and most reliable financial watchdogs globally.
  • CySEC (Cyprus / Europe): For clients residing in the EU, services are provided by the Cyprus-based subsidiary (License 314/16). Funds are protected by EU law (MiFID II), including a compensation fund (ICF) covering up to €20,000 in the extreme event of insolvency.
  • Global Offshore Branches: To serve international traders seeking higher leverage, the broker also holds licenses from the FSCA (South Africa), FSA (Seychelles), and operates via an LLC in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Negative Balance Protection: Depending on the entity you register under (e.g., the EU CySEC branch), retail investors are fully protected against negative balances. This ensures your market losses will never exceed your total account deposits.

2. Market Offering: 10,000+ Assets in a DMA Environment

FP Markets shines by providing traders with a Direct Market Access (DMA) and ECN Pricing environment. Orders are not artificially held on a dealing desk; they are routed directly to top-tier liquidity providers (like major banks), ensuring execution speeds averaging around 29 milliseconds.

  • Forex: Access to over 70 currency pairs. Because of the deep liquidity pools, execution is instantaneous, and spreads are kept at wholesale levels.
  • Stocks and ETFs (DMA Model): Over 10,000 share CFDs from Europe, the US, and Asia. This massive offering is primarily accessible via the dedicated IRESS platform.
  • Commodities and Indices: Excellent conditions for trading Gold, Silver, Oil, and major stock market indices (S&P 500, DAX) with spreads built tightly into the price.
  • Cryptocurrencies: A solid selection of crypto CFDs (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin) available for weekend trading and short-selling.

Disclaimer: FP Markets focuses almost entirely on CFD trading. If you are looking to buy real, physical shares with voting rights for a long-term passive portfolio, this is not the right broker. FP Markets is built for leveraged, active trading.

3. Account Types: Standard vs. RAW ECN Pricing

FP Markets keeps its account structure straightforward, offering two primary tiers designed for MetaTrader users, with a wide choice of base currencies (including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, etc.).

  • Standard Account: Designed for less active or beginner traders. There is a flat $0 commission per trade, as the broker’s fee is fully integrated into the spread. The average spread on the EUR/USD pair is around 1.0 to 1.1 pips.
  • RAW Account (ECN): The absolute crown jewel of FP Markets, built for scalpers, day traders, and algorithmic trading bots (Expert Advisors). Spreads come directly from the interbank pool and frequently drop to 0.0 pips during liquid hours. In exchange, the broker charges a flat, highly competitive commission of $6.00 per standard lot, round turn ($3 to open, $3 to close).

Leverage: Leverage heavily depends on your regulatory zone. European (CySEC) retail clients are capped at 1:30 for Forex majors. However, professional clients or traders registering under offshore entities (like FSA Seychelles) can access leverage up to 1:500.

4. Fee Schedule: Deposits, Withdrawals, and Hidden Costs

Fee transparency at FP Markets is excellent. The broker scores highly for not punishing standard account holders with sneaky inactivity fees.

Service Type Fee / Condition at FP Markets
Minimum Initial Deposit $100 (or equivalent in other base currencies)
Deposit Fees $0 (Free for Credit/Debit Cards, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, and most Bank Transfers)
Withdrawal Fees Generally free for Cards and e-Wallets. (Note: International SWIFT bank wire withdrawals may incur a flat bank fee of approx. $20–$25 depending on your local bank).
Inactivity Fee None ($0) for standard MT4/MT5/cTrader accounts.
IRESS Platform Fee $55 / AUD 55 per month (Waived if you generate enough monthly commissions or hold a high balance).

5. Trading Platforms (MT4, MT5, cTrader, IRESS)

FP Markets allows you to connect to the market using a variety of top-tier technological solutions, providing ultimate analytical freedom:

  • MetaTrader 4 (MT4) & MetaTrader 5 (MT5): The industry standards. Because FP Markets hosts its servers in the Equinix NY4 facility (New York), execution on these platforms is incredibly stable and fast, making it a paradise for automated trading (EAs).
  • cTrader: Recently integrated into their offering, cTrader is highly favored by modern day-traders for its advanced order management and slick interface.
  • IRESS Platform (DMA): An incredibly powerful, institutional-grade platform dedicated primarily to Direct Market Access share trading. It offers Level 2 pricing and advanced charting.
  • TradingView Integration: Traders can easily connect their FP Markets accounts directly to TradingView, executing trades directly from the world’s most popular social charting interface.

6. Summary: Pros, Cons, and ForexRev Verdict

  • Excellent technology stack: MT4, MT5, cTrader, IRESS, and TradingView.

  • Low barrier to entry with a minimum deposit of just $100.

❌ FP MARKETS CONS

  • International bank wire withdrawals can incur annoying flat fees from correspondent banks.

Final Verdict

FP Markets is an outstanding trading machine built for serious speculators. If you want a platform to “buy and hold” physical shares for decades, look for a traditional stockbroker. However, if you are a day trader, an EA scalper, or someone trading gold and Forex who demands the tightest possible ECN spreads (0.0 pips), strong ASIC/CySEC regulation, low $6 commissions, and lightning-fast NY4 server execution, FP Markets sits firmly at the absolute top of the global retail industry in 2026.

7. FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the minimum deposit at FP Markets?
To open a live MT4, MT5, or cTrader account, the minimum initial deposit required by FP Markets is $100 (or equivalent in your local base currency). The IRESS platform account requires a much higher initial deposit ($1,000).
2. What is the difference between the Standard and RAW account?
The Standard Account has no per-trade commission, but the broker’s fee is added to the market spread (e.g., EUR/USD will have a spread of ~1.0 pip). The RAW Account gives you direct interbank spreads starting at 0.0 pips, but charges a separate, flat cash commission of $6.00 per standard lot traded (round turn). The RAW account is generally mathematically cheaper for high-frequency traders.
3. Does FP Markets charge an inactivity fee?
No. Unlike many competitors that penalize you for not logging in, FP Markets does not charge an inactivity fee on standard MT4/MT5/cTrader accounts. However, the specialized IRESS platform does charge a monthly data fee if you fail to meet specific volume targets.
4. Is FP Markets safe? Does it guarantee negative balance protection?
Yes, FP Markets is highly secure, regulated by top-tier authorities like ASIC (Australia) and CySEC (Europe). If you register under their European CySEC branch as a retail client, you are legally guaranteed negative balance protection, meaning you cannot lose more than your deposited funds.

🛡️ How We Review Brokers (YMYL Guidelines)

Evaluating financial brokers falls under strict YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) standards. Before publishing this review, the ForexRev team rigorously verified FP Markets’ operational facts. We checked their official fee schedules to confirm the $6.00 RAW commission and $0 inactivity fee, validated their ASIC and CySEC regulatory licenses against official government databases, and confirmed the 29ms average execution speed claims through technical assessments. We base our verdicts on verified market facts, not marketing claims.

Fact-Checking Note: Key parameters such as the $100 minimum deposit, the $6.00 round-turn RAW commission, and the lack of inactivity fees on MT4/MT5 are verified for 2026. Keep in mind that “0.0 pips” spreads on ECN networks are variable and depend on real-time market liquidity. Furthermore, the availability of specific leverage limits (e.g., 1:30 vs. 1:500) depends entirely on the regulatory jurisdiction you select during registration.

Very good execution of orders, tight spreads. Admittedly, a fairly new broker on the Polish market, but nevertheless regulated in a trusted, as for me, jurisdiction. He stole me ;)

All in all, pretty okay, but I don't see that many pluses to move that far, especially since it doesn't need high leverage. It's also hard to judge its reliability over the long term.

A very nice broker, surprisingly little known in our country. It seems to me that the spreads are even smaller than at ICM, where I played before.
