FSMA warns against companies offering to recover deposits from dishonest brokers
The FSMA lists Active-Refound on its list of warnings. A platform offers the recovery of funds paid by investors to fraudulent broker platforms. Companies that offer such services are called “Recovery Rooms”. The Belgian Financial Supervision Authority points out that these companies expect payment “in advance” before the service is performed, which is a clear signal that we are dealing with fraud. The payment is supposed to cover certain administrative, legal or tax costs. However, these are purely fictitious costs. Once the fees are received, the fraudsters disappear and it is practically impossible to recover the amounts paid.
