BaFin warns against CapitalFx
The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has ordered EZ2GO Ltd, based in Dominica, to immediately cease unauthorized deposit operations and the unauthorized provision of contractual intermediation and portfolio management.
EZ2GO Ltd is a supervisory company of CapitalFx fraud platform, against which they previously issued warnings, among others CONSOB and FINMA. FSMA, CNMV.
BaFin informs that the company also has its branch in Great Britain. The capitalfx.co trading platform uses false documents bearing the BaFin, European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and British Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) logos. Documents available for BaFin now also include a fake letter from the Federal Central Tax Office (Bundeszentralamt für Steuern – BZSt) and a fake tax form with ESMA logo.
EZ2GO Ltd. forged a letter from BaFin that was sent to investors. In the document’s content, “CapitalFX” is referred to as “part of the fraud industry in Europe”. Investors who intend to initiate repayment of their capital invested in this company are advised to “ask the Finance Department to arrange a withdrawal of blocked funds”. The letter’s addressees are also asked to pay a “fee” as a guarantee that “these funds are real”. The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority stresses that this letter is fake and was not sent by BaFin. The documentation of the case at the regulator’s disposal indicates that the persons responsible for the capitalfx.co trading platform approached investors under the name of Aegion Group LTD. However, BaFin does not have any confirmed information about the actual connections between the capitalfx.co trading platform and the American company Aegion Corporation.
