XBTFX Review 2026: Unlicensed Antigua-Based Broker, Not for EU Clients

XBTFX is a forex, CFD and crypto broker operated by XBTFX LLC, an International LLC incorporated in Antigua and Barbuda (no. ILLC001) with no licence to provide investment services, with payments processed by CLEARAY LTD (Cyprus). It holds no EU financial licence and states on its website that it does not target EU/EEA clients. On its legal documents page XBTFX itself says the company is not required to hold any financial services licence in Antigua and Barbuda, and the local regulator, the FSRC, stated in a notice of 30 January 2026 that CFD trading is not an activity it regulates, licenses or supervises — yet XBTFX’s terms of service still refer to FSRC oversight. On 24 January 2024 Ukraine’s securities regulator, the NSSMC, added the domain xbtfx.io, which redirects to xbtfx.com, to its list of dubious investment projects.

In short: Pro (raw from 0.0 + commission) and Standard (from 1 pip) accounts, Mega1 and MetaTrader 5, dynamic high leverage and crypto deposits. For EU residents this means no EU protection: no ESMA leverage limits, no guaranteed negative balance protection, no compensation scheme and no regulator to complain to. Checked on 4 November 2026.

Disclosure: the link to XBTFX is not an affiliate link — given the lack of an EU licence, ForexRev does not promote this broker for commission.

XBTFX — facts 4 Nov 2026
Company XBTFX LLC (Antigua and Barbuda, International LLC no. ILLC001) — no investment licence; the FSRC does not supervise CFDs (notice of 30 Jan 2026); payments: CLEARAY LTD (Cyprus)
EU licence none; “does not target EU/EEA clients”
MiCA not in ESMA register (20 Oct 2026)
Accounts Pro (from 0.0 + $2.75 commission per $100k traded), Standard (from 1 pip); deposits from $10; about 416 instruments
Platforms Mega1, MetaTrader 5
Leverage dynamic, instrument-dependent, up to 1:1000 (forex, up to $500k exposure) — no ESMA limits
Deposits bank, card, wallets, crypto — no XBTFX fees

1. Why the lack of a licence matters

  • No ESMA limits: EU brokers must cap retail leverage (e.g. 1:30 on majors, 1:2 on crypto); XBTFX does not.
  • No EU compensation scheme or supervision. There is no supervision in Antigua and Barbuda either — the FSRC does not regulate CFD trading.
  • Negative balance protection is not guaranteed: under its terms, XBTFX may, at its discretion, keep your balance from falling below zero, but this is not automatic in every scenario — where the company does not apply it, you are liable for the negative balance.
  • Crypto without MiCA: XBTFX is not in ESMA’s CASP register.
  • The broker states it does not target EU/EEA clients.

2. XBTFX offer

  • Pro — raw spread from 0.0 plus a commission of $2.75 per $100k traded (about $6 per round-turn lot of EUR/USD); Standard — from 1 pip, no separate commission. Minimum deposit on both accounts: $10.
  • Platforms: Mega1 (browser, desktop, mobile, native API) and MT5; PAMM, MAM and copy trading.
  • CFDs on forex, crypto (incl. weekends), indices, metals, energy and stocks — about 416 symbols in XBTFX’s specification (the broker says 400+), including 134 crypto CFDs and 129 stock and ETF CFDs.
  • Deposits by bank, card, wallet or crypto with no XBTFX deposit fees. Bank withdrawals (SWIFT, SEPA) may incur bank charges, and the terms allow XBTFX to pass banking fees on to the client.
  • Inactivity fee: $50 per month after 3 months of inactivity, plus a $100 annual administration fee after 12 months of inactivity.
  • Execution model: XBTFX markets itself as an STP broker, but under its legal documents (terms of service, risk disclosure notice) the company acts as principal to client trades and is the sole execution venue. It generally offsets client positions with third-party liquidity providers, but where positions are not fully offset it may retain market exposure. In other words: STP marketing with market-making elements in its legal terms, not pure STP or ECN.
XBTFX website

Non-EU broker without an EU licence — no EU protection. CFDs and crypto carry a high risk of losing all your money.

3. Regulated alternatives

  • Pepperstone — Razor from 0.0, MT5 and cTrader, CySEC.
  • Tickmill — Raw account, CySEC.
  • eToro — crypto with a MiCA-licensed provider.

4. How to check whether a broker is licensed in the EU

  1. Check the website footer for which company provides the services and where it is registered.
  2. Look the company up in the register of the regulator that should supervise it (e.g. CySEC, BaFin, FCA) and in ESMA’s registers.
  3. Check regulators’ warning lists (KNF, FCA, AMF, CONSOB).
  4. Be wary of “international licences” from the Seychelles, Vanuatu or St. Vincent — they give EU residents no EU protection.

5. EU-licensed vs non-EU brokers — key differences

EU-licensed broker Non-EU broker (e.g. XBTFX)
Retail leverage up to 1:30 (ESMA limits) often 1:500 or more
Negative balance protection mandatory depends on the broker’s terms
Compensation scheme yes (e.g. up to €20,000 in Cyprus) usually none
Deposit bonuses banned for retail CFD clients often offered
Complaint to an EU regulator possible no EU regulator

6. How to spot a risky broker — warning signs

  • No EU authorisation — only a registration or a licence in an offshore jurisdiction (e.g. St Vincent and the Grenadines, Vanuatu, Comoros, Seychelles). Supervision there is weaker and EU clients lose MiFID II protection.
  • Leverage of 1:500 or more — in the EU, retail clients are limited to 1:30 on major currency pairs and 1:2 on crypto.
  • Deposit bonuses and trading contests with prizes — EU firms may not offer them to retail CFD clients.
  • Pressure to deposit more — an “account manager” keeps calling, pushes you to top up or asks you to install remote-desktop software (e.g. AnyDesk).
  • Withdrawal problems — demands for an extra “AML fee”, “tax” or “unlocking cost” before you can withdraw.
  • No company details — the website does not give the company name, registration number and address, or the footer does not match the regulator’s register.
  • Listed in regulator warnings — check your national regulator’s warning list and the IOSCO I-SCAN database.

A single sign does not prove fraud, but the more of them you see, the more careful you should be with deposits.

7. MiCA — what it means for crypto platforms and for you

Since 30 December 2024 the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA, Regulation 2023/1114) has applied in full. A firm that exchanges, holds or arranges trades in crypto-assets for EU clients needs a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) authorisation from a national regulator, which is then valid across the EU. Transitional periods for firms previously operating under national rules could last until 1 July 2026 at the latest.

  • An authorised platform must keep client crypto-assets separate from its own, run a complaints procedure and meet capital requirements.
  • ESMA publishes the register of authorised firms — check the company name there, not just the brand.
  • MiCA does not guarantee your money back — crypto-assets are not covered by investor compensation or deposit guarantee schemes.
  • CFDs and other crypto derivatives (including “perpetual futures”) are financial instruments under MiFID II: only licensed investment firms may offer them, and EU retail clients are limited to 1:2 leverage on crypto CFDs.

XBTFX is not listed in ESMA’s MiCA register (checked in October 2026).

8. Regulated alternatives to XBTFX — comparison

If you want a broker with EU protection, here are regulated brokers whose reviews we updated in October 2026 (figures from their summary tables):

Broker Company / regulator Minimum deposit Inactivity fee
Pepperstone Pepperstone EU Limited (Cyprus) €10 (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal) none
Admirals Admirals Europe Ltd (Limassol, Cyprus) Trade and Zero: €100 / $100 €10 per month after 24 months without trading (positive balances only)
FOREX.com StoneX Europe Ltd (Nicosia, Cyprus) 100 units of the account currency €15 per month after 12 months without trades or open positions
Dukascopy Dukascopy Europe IBS AS (Riga, Latvia) $100 up to €50 per 180 days without trading (after the first 180 days)
easyMarkets Easy Forex Trading Ltd (Cyprus) $25 $25 every 6 months after 12 months without trading

9. Withdrawing money from XBTFX — how it works

You request a withdrawal in the client area. Under anti-money-laundering rules, funds usually go back via the method used to deposit (e.g. to the card up to the amount deposited by card) and only to an account or card in your own name. The first withdrawal may require full account verification, so upload your documents right after registering. Only free funds that are not used as margin can be withdrawn.

10. Already have a XBTFX account? What to do

  1. Do not deposit more until you have checked which company holds your account — its name is in the client agreement and the website footer.
  2. If you prefer to move your money to an EU-licensed firm, withdraw your free funds to a bank account or card in your own name and keep the evidence: screenshots, emails and your transaction history.
  3. Download a full account statement — you will need it for your tax return and for any complaint.
  4. If the broker refuses a withdrawal or asks for extra fees to “unlock” your money, complain in writing and then report it to the regulator of the country where the company is licensed — XBTFX LLC has no such regulator, as it holds no licence and Antigua’s FSRC does not supervise CFD trading. If you suspect fraud, report it to the police and contact your bank.
  5. Profits made with a foreign broker usually have to be declared by you — the broker will not do it for you.

11. Glossary: terms to know before opening a XBTFX account

  • Spread — the difference between the buy and sell price, paid on every trade.
  • Pip — the smallest typical price move of a currency pair (0.0001 for EUR/USD).
  • Lot — the standard position size: 1 forex lot is 100,000 units of the base currency; 0.01 lot (micro lot) is 1,000.
  • Commission — a fixed fee per trade, usually on raw-spread (ECN/Raw) accounts.
  • Swap — the daily cost or credit for holding a position overnight, based on the interest-rate differential.
  • Margin — the part of the position value set aside as collateral; at 1:30 leverage about 3.33% of the position.
  • Margin call and stop out — a warning and automatic closing of positions when equity falls relative to required margin.
  • Slippage — execution at a different price than requested, common around news releases and price gaps.

12. FAQ

Is XBTFX regulated?
No. XBTFX LLC is an International LLC incorporated in Antigua and Barbuda (no. ILLC001) with no investment services licence — neither there nor in the EU — and no MiCA authorisation. Antigua’s FSRC stated in a notice of 30 January 2026 that it does not regulate or supervise CFD trading, although XBTFX’s terms still refer to FSRC oversight. On 24 January 2024 Ukraine’s NSSMC added the domain xbtfx.io (which redirects to xbtfx.com) to its list of dubious investment projects.
Does XBTFX accept EU clients?
It states that it does not target EU/EEA clients; EU residents would have no EU protection.
Is XBTFX licensed in the EU?
No. Client agreements are signed with a non-EU company, XBTFX LLC of Antigua and Barbuda, so EU residents get no EU protection — no ESMA leverage limits, no mandatory negative balance protection and no compensation scheme. XBTFX’s terms offer negative balance protection only at the company’s discretion.

🛡️ How we checked this

On 25 October 2026 we checked xbtfx.com (company details, geographic restrictions, accounts, platforms, funding), ESMA’s MiCA register (20 Oct 2026) and the KNF warning list. On 4 November 2026 we rechecked XBTFX LLC’s legal documents (terms of service, risk disclosure notice, best execution policy), the FSRC notice of 30 January 2026, the instrument specification and regulators’ warning lists (KNF, AMF, CNMV, CySEC, NSSMC).

Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage; a non-EU broker may offer higher leverage than allowed in the EU. Crypto is highly volatile. This page is not investment advice.

Interesting platform, strongly reminds me of PrimeXBT. The conditions are interesting, I started testing it. So far, everything is fine. I also requested a test withdrawal of some Bitcoins and it went through :)
