How to check a broker in 3 steps

  1. Search the warning lists

Enter the name and the website. Scammers often change their name but keep the same domain.

  2. Check the licence in the register

No warning does not mean a licence. Look the firm up in the register of the regulator in its home country.

  3. Watch for red flags

Guaranteed profit, time pressure, requests for remote access (AnyDesk) or payment to a private account.

Frequently asked questions

What is the KNF public warning list?

It is a list kept by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) of firms it has reported to prosecutors on suspicion of an offence — most often operating without the required authorisation. An entry is not a conviction, but it is a serious red flag.

The firm is not on the list — does that mean it is safe?

No. The lists only cover firms a regulator has looked into, and scammers often change names and domains. Check whether the firm is authorised in the register of the regulator in its home country.

Where does the data come from and how often is it updated?

Every day we download the KNF public warning list from knf.gov.pl and regulators’ warnings from IOSCO I-SCAN and the FCA and AMF lists. Each entry links to our article with the source. We do not publish entries about private individuals.

What should I do if I sent money to a firm on the list?

Do not pay any “withdrawal fees” or “taxes”, do not install remote-access software, block your card and call your bank, and report it to the police and the regulator. Keep all messages and payment confirmations.
